Detroit Goodfellows Elect New Officers and Board of Directors
DETROIT, March 8, 2010 – Now in its 96th year of ensuring “No Kiddie Without a Christmas,” the Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund of Detroit has elected new officers and board members.
Shelby Township resident Robert Carabelli was elected president of the Detroit Goodfellows. He has been a member since 1989. Carabelli is employed as an agent for the Tim Crawford Nationwide Insurance Agency. He and his wife Carol have two children.
Bloomfield Hills resident Mike Coakley was elected first vice president; he has been a member since 1987. Coakley is senior principal and leader of the Commercial Litigation Practice group at Miller Canfield. He and his wife Beth have two children.
Ken Neal was elected as second vice president; he has been a member since 2004. Ken Neal is employed at Win Win Systems and resides in South Lyon with his wife Monica and two children.
Two new members were also elected to the Detroit Goodfellows Board of Directors: Ted Kedzierski and Magistrate Robert K. Costello. A Goodfellow member since 1994, Kedzierski is a self-employed certified public accountant and tax attorney who resides in Grosse Pointe Shores with his wife Kathleen and two children. Magistrate Costello, of the 36th District Court since 1989, lives in Detroit with his wife Michelle and two children.
The Detroit Goodfellows Executive Committee will again be comprised of Birmingham resident Mike Predhomme, treasurer and member since 1986; Huntington Woods resident Jon Haber, assistant treasurer and member since 1970; Grosse Pointe Woods resident Pete N. Waldmeir, secretary and member since 1980; and, Detroit resident Suzanne Rabideau, assistant secretary and member since 1984.
Last year, Detroit Goodfellows raised $1.33 million and distributed 36,000 holiday gift boxes to children in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park containing warm clothes, books and toys. The Goodfellows’ goals for 2010 are to distribute 36,000 gift boxes and raise $1.3 million.

Founded in 1914, the Detroit Goodfellows is the original and oldest Goodfellow organization and is not affiliated with any other Goodfellow group. It also sponsors an emergency dental program for children, awards scholarships through Wayne State University, provides free shoes to children in need and helps send hundreds of needy children to camp each summer.
